Living in lament
Author’s Note: Lately, I have been connecting with God through the visual arts, calligraphy, and poetry. Art has become a deeply profound way to process my walk with God. Today, I am sharing one of the more recent poems that has become a resolution beheld in my heart as I weigh my future plans.
If I live a life in lament,
let me lament and lean on You, oh God.
If my feet shall wander,
then let them wonder of the ways
that I can worship You, oh God.
If this life has nothing but trouble,
then lay me low, casting my crowns,
so You may be praised, oh God.
If hardship is all that I endure,
then help me to turn my eyes towards You —
entrusting all I have, oh God, to You.
For this life I live, full of loss,
is worth losing for all that I have gained —
In the lament, I have found thee deep love
that Christ has given time and time aga’n.
In many seasons of lament, none so ever as dear
as the sweetness of Jesus drawing near.
